Strong caring families equals a strong caring community!

The Elizabeth House Foundation is a registered charity that helps some of the most vulnerable families in our community grow stronger.

Our mission is to support young pregnant women and families in difficulty. We do this by raising funds for Elizabeth House. Through its residential and external programs, Elizabeth House provides a full range of rehabilitation services to help young pregnant women adjust to pregnancy and to help young parents adapt to their role as parents. Visit the Elizabeth House web site.

We also support activities in the greater community that Elizabeth House is a part of through the provision of programs and services for young parents and their families.

Elizabeth House is a vital organization that provides safe and caring places where vulnerable young parents - especially young mothers - can care for their children while acquiring the confidence and skills to build strong, stable and loving families.

Your generosity helps us build strong caring families.

Please think of the young families who are struggling to succeed and to create better lives for their children; they need your help. Your donations make possible a number of programs and activities that support the growth and development of children and families. Please visit our "How You Can Help" page for a more complete list of programs and ways to help.

Programs and activities that monetary donations allow
Elizabeth House to offer, include:

  • Therapy sessions for girls and young women who are survivors of abuse or other trauma.
  • A Bus Pass Program to encourage teen moms to get to school and to stay in school.
  • An Education Fund to help defray costs of school for young mothers finishing high school or pursuing post secondary education.
  • Literacy Programs to build the love of reading and writing into the lives of babies and children as well as purchasing educational toys and tactile books for babies and toddlers.
  • Celebrations to mark holidays and special events in the lives of young mothers who have little or no family support such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and High School graduation.
  • Donations are also used to buy playmats and age-appropriate toys for our Infant Stimulation Program.

Special Projects/Needs/Fundraising Events:

  • Renovations to Supervised and Transitional Apartments (replace windows & doors and renovate kitchen & bathrooms)
  • New Washer & Dryer, plus electrical wiring needed to install them on the 3rd floor living quarters of Elizabeth House so that clients no longer need to go down to the basement to do laundry.
  • Laptops for client use to facilitate school work, job hunting and to promote digital literacy.
  • Specialized educational and support groups, including the material, handouts facilitator and in some cases the childcare needed during the groups.
  • Scotiabank Charity Challenge 5k Run/Walk (April 24, 2016) to raise money for Elizabeth House* (You can help with fundraising, can join or create a running/walking group to raise money, or donate to a team or participant.)  *For more information on our participation in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge please visit the Elizabeth House Foundation page on the Scotiabank Charity Cahllenge web-site
